Ginius Gin, distilled in the traditional distillery The Spirits Valley in Bossuit, has been voted the best gin in the world at the Japanese competition Tokyo Whiskey & Spirits competition (TWSC). Manager and distiller Tim Veys is very pleased with the recognition. “It is an honor to be the first Belgian, even European, gin to receive this prize. Japan is one of the most demanding markets worldwide, so it is a confirmation of our commitment to high quality and a unique taste experience.”
“The professional jury confirms the excellence of our artisanal gin,” says Veys. “Ginius Gin is distinguished by a carefully composed mix of botanicals, including grapefruit, lime, with subtle hints of black pepper and lavender,” was the jury's verdict. “This unique combination creates a flavor profile that is both complex and harmonious, with an alcohol content of 50°, highlighting the powerful and characterful nature of this gin.”
“At The Spirits Valley we strive to create drinks that not only meet the highest quality standards, but also offer a unique taste experience,” says Veys. “The recognition of Ginius as the best gin in the world is a confirmation of our dedication and passion, as well as our continuous search for perfection.”
The distillery is housed in the pump building in Avelgem. “Our distillery is located in a beautifully restored historic building, where the rich history can still be felt. Visitors can join guided tours to discover the history of our building, as well as our modern distilling process and the art of distilling. This contrast between old and new reflects our philosophy: respect for tradition combined with a drive for innovation.”
